311 NYC helps you understand what’s really happening across New York City, block by block, in real time.

Built using the official NYC Open Data 311 Service Requests dataset, the app transforms millions of public service reports into a simple, easy-to-explore experience. Every day, New Yorkers submit thousands of non-emergency requests to the city covering issues like noise complaints, sanitation concerns, street conditions, housing problems, illegal parking, and more. These requests are handled by dozens of city agencies and updated continuously, creating a living snapshot of the city’s daily activity.

311 NYC turns this powerful public data into something useful:

  • πŸ“ Explore service requests near you

  • πŸ”Ž Search complaints by neighborhood, street, or category

  • πŸ“Š See trends shaping different parts of the city

  • πŸ•’ Track when issues are opened, updated, and resolved

  • πŸ—ΊοΈ View NYC through real, community-reported activity

The underlying dataset is updated daily and includes information such as complaint type, responding agency, status, and geographic location, while protecting personal privacy by excluding identifying information about the person who made the request.

Our goal is simple: make city data understandable, transparent, and genuinely useful for residents, commuters, researchers, and anyone curious about how New York City works behind the scenes.

311 NYC is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the City of New York. It uses publicly available data provided through NYC Open Data.
